Officially founded as a corporation on January 04, 2002, the Prairie House Foundation is a not-for-profit tax-deductible organization. Our Tax ID # is: 73-1624 793. |
We were established through a $14,000.00 note taken out by the founder and Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Gail Loafman. $10,000.00 was for the price of the house. $4,000.00 was borrowed as an operating fund until funds could be raised. That loan was retired on May 15, 2002. The house and grounds now belong to The Prairie House Foundation, Inc., with free and clear title. The Foundation will be the ultimate long-term owner of the house, with an endowment fund being established once the working account has been completed. The Prairie House Foundation paid off one half of the note, plus interest in February 2003, and was given a smaller interest rate as a result of the payment. The house now belongs to the People! |
Grants received include: $2,500.00 from the Walton Foundation and Arvest bank, a very generous grant of $35,000.00 from the McCasland Foundation for structural repairs to the house, and $6,000.00 from Tom & Phyllis McCasland for the purpose of putting a new roof on the house. |
