Glow of Christmas Candlelight Tour:

Date: November 25th-26th, 2011 - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Location:
The Prairie House

The “Glow of Christmas” 2011 will welcome visitors, as always, by having all forty-seven windows lit with a candle (to show the stranger his way).   This tradition was established by Founder, Ms. Gail, when the W. T. Foreman home was purchased and renovated by a grass roots movement in Duncan, OK. from 2001 to 2007.

Each year the Christmas celebration may vary, but there is always a “Glow” about the house for the holidays.

In 2011 we will again welcome visitors as they “talk” to re-enactors playing the part of Foreman family members and friends. Children may sit by the fireside and be read a Christmas story, perhaps by Mrs. Claus!

Decorated each year by Thanksgiving week-end, you may tour the house between 10 AM and 4 PM on Friday and Saturday of that week.   Tours are free, but donations of $3.00 or so are always appreciated, as this house is run entirely on donations and fundraisers by the not for profit organization, a 501©3.

This two story brick 1918 home is architecturally significant to all, as it may be the best brick example of a prairie style home (made popular by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright), perhaps in all of Oklahoma.   Historically, it was built for pharmacist W. T. Foreman, one of Duncan’s earliest, most prominent pioneers, and was the most expensive house in town, at a cost of $8,000.00.   Structurally, it is said to be built of only the finest materials, with excellent craftsmanship.   “A must see when in Duncan.”

Open by telephoning for an appointment between Thanksgiving and December 15th.   Call 580-251-0027 or 580-255-4199 to visit.
